What Home Upgrade Check is — and what it isn't
Home Upgrade Check is a free reference tool for Massachusetts homeowners considering heat pumps, solar, insulation, batteries, or other efficiency upgrades. We help you understand the rebates available, estimate what you might pay after incentives, and check whether a contractor's quote looks complete and reasonable.
What we do
Every tool and guide on this site is built from publicly available program documentation, IRS publications, and utility program pages. Nothing is invented or estimated without a source.
What we are not
This site is not a government website and is not affiliated with Mass Save, the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, the IRS, DOE, ENERGY STAR, or any utility.
How we check our data
Rebate amounts, eligibility rules, and tax credit details come from masssave.com, irs.gov, and utility program pages. We cite the specific source URL next to each claim.
Every source table shows when that source was last checked. Program rules change — especially around program-year resets and IRA implementation. We flag claims that may be stale.
We use 'may qualify,' 'typically,' and 'estimated' because eligibility genuinely depends on your equipment, utility, and installation details. We do not write 'you qualify' or 'guaranteed savings.'
Calculator outputs are estimates for planning purposes. Tax credit eligibility and rebate approval require verification with your tax professional and utility program sponsor.
How this site is supported
We may earn referral fees if you choose to connect with a contractor, installer, energy auditor, financing provider, or other partner through this site. Referral relationships do not determine rebate eligibility, calculator results, or red-flag warnings. The tools work the same way regardless of whether you follow any referral link.
