How much is the Georgia heat pump rebate?

Georgia Power HEIP: 50% of installed cost, up to $1,000. Applies to conversion of an electric furnace to an air source heat pump only. Gas-to-HP conversions and HP-to-HP replacements do not qualify. Must be completed by a licensed HVAC contractor. Apply at georgiapowerrebates.com/residential within 60 days of installation.

This rebate applies only to replacing an electric furnace with a heat pump — not gas-to-HP conversions.

Gas furnace replacements and heat pump to heat pump replacements do not qualify for this rebate.

Georgia Power customers only — verify service area at georgiapower.com.

Program runs through December 31, 2028.

Total rebates capped at $2,500 per year per customer.

Key factors that determine your Georgia rebate

Your electric utility
Which utility serves your home (Georgia Power, GreyStone Power Cooperative (Douglas/Paulding counties)) determines which rebate tier applies.
Current heating fuel
Oil and propane homes typically qualify for the highest tiers. Natural gas homes usually qualify for lower amounts.
Whole-home vs. partial scope
A whole-home heat pump installation that replaces all primary heating earns the highest rebate. Supplemental or mini-split-only installs earn less.
System size in tons
Larger systems generally earn higher rebates, up to the program cap. Oversizing can disqualify equipment in some programs.
Equipment certification
Equipment must meet the program's current efficiency threshold. Verify the AHRI reference number or program-specific certification before purchase.
Income qualification
Income-qualified households may receive enhanced rebates or additional assistance. Ask your utility about documentation requirements.
