Rebate Range

How much is the Louisiana heat pump rebate?

Energy Smart New Orleans (Entergy New Orleans customers): Air source HP tiered by SEER2 — $200 (SEER2 ≥15.2/HSPF2 ≥7.1), $225 (SEER2 ≥16/HSPF2 ≥7.7), $250 (SEER2 ≥17/HSPF2 ≥7.8). Ductless mini-split: $250 (replacing heat pump) or $500 (replacing electric strip; SEER2 ≥17/HSPF2 ≥7.7). Rebate applied at point of sale through participating HVAC distributors including Carrier Enterprise, Lennox, Johnstone Supply, and others.

Entergy New Orleans serves the City of New Orleans only — approximately 5–8% of Louisiana electricity customers.

Entergy Louisiana (statewide, ~90% of LA) programs are temporarily paused as of May 2026 while onboarding a new program partner.

Rebate is midstream — applied at point of sale by participating HVAC distributors, not a mail-in rebate.

SWEPCO (northwest LA, Shreveport area) may also offer rebates — check swepco.com for current offerings.

Key factors that determine your Louisiana rebate

Your electric utility
Which utility serves your home (Entergy New Orleans / Energy Smart) determines which rebate tier applies.
Current heating fuel
Oil and propane homes typically qualify for the highest tiers. Natural gas homes usually qualify for lower amounts.
Whole-home vs. partial scope
A whole-home heat pump installation that replaces all primary heating earns the highest rebate. Supplemental or mini-split-only installs earn less.
System size in tons
Larger systems generally earn higher rebates, up to the program cap. Oversizing can disqualify equipment in some programs.
Equipment certification
Equipment must meet the program's current efficiency threshold. Verify the AHRI reference number or program-specific certification before purchase.
Income qualification
Income-qualified households may receive enhanced rebates or additional assistance. Ask your utility about documentation requirements.
