How much is the Missouri heat pump rebate?

Ameren Missouri PAYS Program (Nov 2025, valid Jan 1 – Dec 31, 2026): Air-source heat pump replacing ASHP, replacing electric resistance, replacing dual-fuel system, or installing where no central system exists — $2,000 per system (≥15.2 SEER2). ASHP dual-fuel: $2,000. Mini-split heat pump or AC: $500 per ton (≥19 SEER2). Ground-source (geothermal) heat pump replacing GSHP: $5,000 (≥23 EER2). HVAC eligibility requirements: existing AC must be 10+ years old, rated 14 SEER or less, or no longer working. Must have lived in the home for the past 12 months. Smart thermostat (ENERGY STAR or approved list): $250.

HVAC eligibility requires your existing AC to be 10+ years old, rated 14 SEER or lower, or no longer functional — newer, higher-efficiency systems may not qualify.

Must have lived in the home for the past 12 months to participate in the PAYS program.

Key factors that determine your Missouri rebate

Your electric utility
Which utility serves your home (Ameren Missouri (PAYS Program)) determines which rebate tier applies.
Current heating fuel
Oil and propane homes typically qualify for the highest tiers. Natural gas homes usually qualify for lower amounts.
Whole-home vs. partial scope
A whole-home heat pump installation that replaces all primary heating earns the highest rebate. Supplemental or mini-split-only installs earn less.
System size in tons
Larger systems generally earn higher rebates, up to the program cap. Oversizing can disqualify equipment in some programs.
Equipment certification
Equipment must meet the program's current efficiency threshold. Verify the AHRI reference number or program-specific certification before purchase.
Income qualification
Income-qualified households may receive enhanced rebates or additional assistance. Ask your utility about documentation requirements.
