Rebate Range

How much is the New Hampshire heat pump rebate?

NHSaves (all NH utilities): $250/ton for standard replacement (any fuel). $2,000/ton for replacing electric resistance heating (as of March 23, 2026, up from $1,250/ton for installs before that date). Applies to ducted and ductless air-source heat pumps. Wi-Fi thermostat add-on: $85/unit (when installed with qualifying heat pump, one per zone).

Electric resistance replacement rebate increased to $2,000/ton on March 23, 2026. Installs before that date: $1,250/ton.

Rebate is per-ton (system capacity), not per installation. A 2-ton system qualifies for 2× the per-ton rate.

Applies to Eversource NH, Liberty Utilities, NHEC, and Unitil customers.

Key factors that determine your New Hampshire rebate

Your electric utility
Which utility serves your home (Eversource NH, Liberty Utilities, NH Electric Cooperative (NHEC), etc.) determines which rebate tier applies.
Current heating fuel
Oil and propane homes typically qualify for the highest tiers. Natural gas homes usually qualify for lower amounts.
Whole-home vs. partial scope
A whole-home heat pump installation that replaces all primary heating earns the highest rebate. Supplemental or mini-split-only installs earn less.
System size in tons
Larger systems generally earn higher rebates, up to the program cap. Oversizing can disqualify equipment in some programs.
Equipment certification
Equipment must meet the program's current efficiency threshold. Verify the AHRI reference number or program-specific certification before purchase.
Income qualification
Income-qualified households may receive enhanced rebates or additional assistance. Ask your utility about documentation requirements.
